Gustin M. BLUBAUGH(752)
(2)(3) was born on 4 Jun 1897
in Mechanicsburg, Boone County IN. He died on 20 May 1972 in Boone County IN.
Doctor Blubaugh was twice married, the first time on OCT 19 1919, the second
on JUN 30 1948. His widow, Ruth Blubaugh, submitted the following, composed by
her sister.
"IN MEMORY OF DR. GUSTIN M. BLUBAUGH Dr. Gustin M. Blubaugh spent his entire life in the Boone County Community. He was born Jun 4 1897 to Charles and Lydia Allen Blubaugh and departed this life May 20 1972, age 74 years, eleven months and eighteen days. On October 19 1919 his first marriage was to Lorreine McCance, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward McCance. He mourned the loss of this mate OCT 30 1940. At the onset of this union her people became his people and they have always thus remained. On JUN 30 1948 he was married to Ruth baker Armstrong of Salem Indiana who survives this faithful husband of twenty-four years. He was a veterinarian, graduating from the Indiana Veterinarian School in 1918 and immediately enlisting in the Veterinary Corps. of the U.S. Army and after discharge he served in his chosen profession for 42 years. He was a member of Boone County Barrack #525, World War I, of the Elks Lodge and had been a member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Church since boyhood. He was a faithful and loyal member through life giving unstintingly of his talents and his time to its many services. Perhaps parenthood rises to its greatest heights when individuals assume the responsibility by choice. Since Dr. Blubaugh had no children of his own, he chose a daughter by adopting Mary Jewel, now Mrs. G. T. Myers of Rockville, Indiana. After his marriage to Ruth Baker Armstrong of Salem, Indiana, JUN 30 1948, he added to his family her adopted daughter, Jeanie Jarrett, now Mrs. Mills Riddick of Winter Park, FL. With these adoptions, he enjoyed seven grandchildren, namely: Tom, David, Mike, Cindy, and Cassie Myers and Krista Lynn and Allen Riddick. They knew the love of a doting and thoughtful grandfather. He was a tower of strength to the Myers family during the illness and susequent death of the husband and father. He was dedicated to his chosen profession and was known and respected throughout Boone and Clinton Counties for his tireless service and integrity. He felt the veterinarian field was a great service to mankind. In healing live stock, he added to his client's economy and in healing their pets, he added to their loneliness. He regretted that his loss of strength necessitated his retirement from active practice in 1962 but he continued to be sought out for counsel and advice by his fellow associates and others. His kindness and generosity were recognized by all who knew him- especially the youth. He followed this admonition: "Be ye kind, one to another, tender hearted and forgiving". It can be truly said "he went about doing good". Surviving other than previously mentioned are two brothers, Chester and Frank of Lebanon Indiana and two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Van Eaton of Vincennes Indiana and Mrs. Charles Young of Lebanon Indiana. Three brothers, Wilber, Jesse and Leo, preceded him in death." Parents: Charles Albert BLUBAUGH and Lydia Ann ALLEN. He was married to Lorreine MCCANCE on 19 Oct 1919. Children were: Mary Jewel BLUBAUGH adopted. He was married to Ruth Baker ARMSTRONG on 30 Jun 1948. Children were: Jeanie Jarrett BLUBAUGH . Harold

behind their cattle. Many days they were plagued by rain and mud, other times

new railroad track was to be laid across Monroe County, they had a large supply

80 acres more. He moved the log cabin from one farm to the other anfd set the
two close together, building a roof over the space between, enlarging the living
quarters. The structure was still standing in 1902 when he died. When they built
