bullet Benjamin Franklin BLUBAUGH(375) (2)(3) was born on 19 Jul 1853 in Knox County OH. He died in 1918. He was buried in Danville KS. Benjamin joined a wagon train at age 22 (1875) and headed west in search of adventure and a new country. He met his wife at Greencastle MO and they married on SEP 8 1877. They continued the journey to Harper County KS, where they homesteaded 160 acres of land. Their land was near the settlement of Danville KS and they lived there until 1910, providing for a large family of 13 children. He decided to move to Tonkawa OK, so he sold his land and invested in the new land with the hopes of making a good investment. The land which he purchased turned out to be the heart of the rich Three Sands Oil Field. Benjamin and his wife Alvira, also called Myra or Mary, are buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Danville KS. She grew up in the Clyde OK community and attended school at Medford OK and State Universities in OK, including Northern Oklahoma College where she took nurses training in St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City OK prior to her marriage, which occurred AUG 25 1943 at Medford OK. Her husband taught school in OK and was principal of Medford High School and Supt. of Newkirk Schools for 3 years. They lived in Medford a number of years before moving to Newkirk where he engaged in the insurance and real estate business. She is active from the Catholic Diocese of OK for outstanding work. She had devoted over 14 years working with the Camp Fire Girls and was awarded the St. Ann Medal for her outstanding work, the first time the national award had been given in the Ponca Area Council. He grew up near Clyde and lived there most all his life or until he was married on Nov 27 1922 at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Caldwell KS. He engaged in farming and became manager of the Co-op Elevator of Clyde Cooperative Assn in 1927; the organization had been started in 1921. He served as manager for 36 years and much of the success of the organization is accredited to him. He bought 80 acres of the old homestead farm and conducted experiments in scientific farming. He had some good cows for breeding and he fed a few steers for the market. He built a nice lodge with modern living accommodations and a pond, which he stocked with bass and catfish. New farm buildings were erected. Some lumbar was used from the old barn, which was salvaged when the homestead was sold. He and his wife resided in Medford OK. bulletBuell Dean BLUBAUGH(417) (2)(3) was born on 16 Oct 1922 in Ponca City OK. He died on 18 Apr 1945 in Luzon, Phillipine Islands. He wa killed on Mt. Macalod in Luzon of the Phillipines and was originally buried with his fellow soldiers in the Phillipines. But his body was later sent back to the United States and buried in Tonkawa OK, in family plot next to his parents. He was brought back home in JAN 1949. Buell grew up on the family farm 10 miles west of Ponca City OK (5 miles east of Tonkawa OK). He graduated from High School at Tonkawa and then enrolled at Northern Oklahoma Juior College there. He completed one semester and then volunteered for service in World War II. He was with Company-C, 187th Para-glider Infantry, 11th Airborne Division and served in the Pacific theatre of operations. He was killed on Mt. Macalod, Luzon, Phillipine Islands on Apr 18 1945. He was buried in the Phillipines and his mother planned to leave the body there with those of his fellow soldiers. However, she was later informed that all of the bodies of those buried in that cemetery would be moved to a permanent resting place and if she desired, his body would be returned to the United States. Since his grave was going to be disturbed anyway, she decided to have his body returned home. He was brought back in JAN 1949 and was buried in Tonkawa OK in the family plot beside his parents. He was a talented musician and his dream was to have a band of his own. Parents: Cletus Elmer BLUBAUGH and Nellie Pearl READ.


bullet Byron "Barney" Eugene BLUBAUGH(418) (2) (3) was born on 4 Sep 1914 in Clinton County IN. Byron, second son of his parents, spent his childhood on their hoosier farm. He graduated from Kirklin High School (Clinton County) in 1933, then started out on his own, selling Pathfinder magazines in IN and OH during the depression years. He and his wife, married on NOV 26 1936 at Advance IN (Boone County), had lived within a 2 mile radius of each other. They were and are members of the same church, the Christian Disciples of Christ of Mechanicsburg IN. Byron drove a school bus for 16 years while renting and farming land. At the same time he was assistant manager at the A&P Food store in Lebanon IN. In 1949 they purchased their first home and bought the Blubaugh General Store at Mechanicsburg from his uncle, CHESTER CARLYLE BLUBAUGH, and owned this for 5 years. During this time Byron contracted on his own for building and remodeling with farming on the side. He joined the carpenter's union and for 21 years has worked with commercial buildings. They now have 2 farms which they rent sinece moving into town in the mid-60's. When the children wanted to go on to school his wife obtained a job in 1956 at Schumate Printing Company of Lebanon IN and has been working there for 21 years as a secretary and planner. Both are planning on retiring at the end of 1976, "or so Byron says". He is past Master of the Blue Lodge (Mason), belongs to the Scottish Rite, is a Shriner. belongs to the Murat at Indianapolis and is a member of the Order of the Elks. He is a very energetic person, always busy at something in the garage, sawing or puttering in the yard. He makes friends easy and everyone likes him and they call him "Barney". They have the old kitchen table and the rocking chairwithout arms of grandmother Lydia Ann (Allen) Blubaugh 1861/1936 (see: BLUBAUGH, FRANK FERGUSON), all restored and in good usable condition. He and his wife are proud of their family, 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Byron and his brothers are all very close as they were with their Dad. Byron's wife's sister, Elsie Jean Aldrich, is married to another Blubaugh descendant, EDGAR KARL YOUNG. Byron and his family reside at 309 Glendale Drive, Lebanon IN 46052. Parents: Frank Ferguson BLUBAUGH and Ara Ethel HARBAUGH.

He was married to Hilda Faye ALDRICH on 26 Nov 1936 in Advance IN, Boone County. Children were: Mary Joan BLUBAUGH, Robert David BLUBAUGH, Nancy Kay BLUBAUGH.
